The Role

We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer who's passionate about building great software and solving complex technical challenges. You'll play a key role in designing and developing scalable backend systems that power our client's global mapping platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs using Java or Kotlin
  • Build and optimize microservices with Micronaut or Spring Boot
  • Work with PostgreSQL databases and PostGIS for spatial data processing
  • Implement serverless solutions and integrations with Cloudflare Workers
  • Collaborate with frontend and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features
  • Design and document RESTful or GraphQL APIs for internal and external use
  • Apply strong testing, performance, and security practices
  • Take ownership of projects from concept to deployment
  • Continuously improve backend architecture, scalability, and reliability

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of backend/server-side development experience using Java or Kotlin
  • Strong experience with Micronaut or Spring Boot
  • Solid SQL and database skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience with PostGIS or spatial data is a plus
  • Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers and serverless architecture
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is highly desirable
  • Interest or experience in OpenAI or Agentic AI development is a big bonus
  • Proven experience designing and shipping production-ready APIs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
