About the Role

We're looking for a Backend Developer who can build reliable, secure, and scalable APIs and services. You'll work across modern JavaScript/TypeScript and Python stacks, with databases like Postgres and MongoDB. If you've dabbled in machine learning—or want to grow that skill for AI features—even better.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs.
  • Build with and deploy reliable, secure services.
  • Model data and write efficient queries for Postgres, MongoDB, and SQL stores.
  • Integrate third-party services (auth, payments, messaging, file storage).
  • Write clean, testable, well-documented code; participate in code reviews.
  • Create CI-friendly build/test pipelines and contribute to observability (logs, metrics).
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers ) to ship end-to-end features.
  • (Nice to have) Prototype ML-powered features with Python ML libraries.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 2+ years building backend services (or equivalent portfolio).
  • Strong experience with (TypeScript preferred) and/or FastAPI (Python).
  • Proficiency with SQL and at least one of Postgres/MongoDB.
  • Solid understanding of API design, authentication/authorization, and security basics (OWASP).
  • Experience with testing (unit/integration) and version control (Git).
  • Comfort with Linux CLI, containers, and basic cloud deployment workflows.

Nice-to-Have

  • Exposure to (for API routes and end-to-end debugging).
  • Machine learning knowledge (e.g., data preprocessing, model inference, or vector databases) and interest in applying it to product features.
  • Experience with performance tuning, caching (Redis), and queueing systems.

Soft Skills

  • Ownership mindset; communicates clearly in async, remote environments.
  • Pragmatic problem solver with attention to detail and security.
  • Collaborative, feedback-friendly, and documentation-oriented.
