Role overview
The purpose of this position is to ensure effective and efficient management of inbound and outbound logistics operations for the Export Far East cluster. The position directly supervises the following activities: timely clearance of all incoming shipments, management of 3PL, ensuring inventory record accuracy, reverse logistics, cost reduction, on-time and in-full delivery, and overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management
- Optimize logistics costs across warehousing and transportation.
- Minimize storage, demurrage, and detention costs.
- Review, validate, and approve all billing for inbound shipments and 3PL services.
- Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency.
- Lead negotiations for transportation rates and service agreements.
- Develop models to evaluate and enhance logistics programs and services.
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability.
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes.
- Assess all aspects of logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce inventory, minimize costs, and maximize working capital.
Inbound Management
- Ensure timely and complete provision of shipping documents necessary for customs clearance.
- Monitor release of all shipments arriving at port on time based on agreed schedules.
- Provide management with clear visibility on shipment status and promptly escalate issues.
- Participate in broker management processes, such as selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.
- Monitor product import processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
- Ensure carriers adhere to company policies and procedures during product transit and delivery.
3PL Management
- Manage 3PL performance in terms of SLA execution and compliance standards.
- Direct warehouse operations to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness targets.
- Conduct or review audits related to logistics activities.
- Achieve high inventory record accuracy to ensure all sales orders are processed completely.
- Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processes.
- Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehouse activities, safety performance, and logistics quality management.
Customer Service
- Lead the Customer Service Team and improve efficiency of current processes.
- Achieve timely and accurate sales order processing.
Reverse Logistics
- Lead the reverse logistics process and execution, ensuring compliance with global standards.
- Document all issues related to delivery rejections with traceability in the system and provide necessary corrections.
Others
- Supervise and develop the Logistics Executive and Customer Service Team.
- Lead monthly business reviews with 3PL partners and brokers.
- Implement and manage specific customer requirements, including internal reporting and customized transportation metrics.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including performance metrics, process logs, customer service reports, and training or safety records.
- Address and resolve issues related to transportation, logistics systems, import activities, and customer concerns.
- Ensure import license renewal annually.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes.
Skills and Experience
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in Customer Service and Logistics Management in the FMCG industry.
Specialized Knowledge or Skills
- Proficient in SAP SD and MM modules, with hands-on experience in order processing and materials management.
- Strong background in inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Proven experience in managing third-party logistics (3PL) partners and performance.
- Solid foundation in customer service, with a focus on service excellence and issue resolution.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights.
- Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Skilled negotiator with experience in vendor and contract management.
- Competent in managing financial resources and optimizing cost-efficiency.
- Experienced in performing sensitivity analysis to evaluate risks and outcomes.
- Strategic thinker with a long-term perspective on process improvement and business growth.
