Technical Competence

o Mastery of basic and advanced instrumentation concepts (sensors, transducers,

signal conditioning, calibration)

o Strong understanding of process control systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, and

electronic control)

o Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine

Interfaces (HMIs), and SCADA systems

o Familiarity with industrial automation devices: actuators, control valves, relays,

timers, and drives

o Skills in wiring, configuring, programming, and troubleshooting automation

systems

o Application of industrial standards in process measurement, automation, and

control

 Pedagogical Competence

o Ability to design and implement a competency-based curriculum aligned with

TESDA CBC and industry needs

o Skill in preparing instructional plans, learning materials, and lab exercises

o Demonstrating proper use of instrumentation tools, calibration procedures, and

PLC programming

o Competence in designing and conducting competency-based assessments

(written, oral, and practical)

 Safety and Industry Standards

o Strict application of Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) in

laboratory and field activities

o Practice of proper lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and safe handling of

instruments and automation systems

o Compliance with national and international standards (e.g., IEC, ISA, PEC for

wiring and controls)

 Soft Skills

o Effective communication and ability to simplify technical concepts

o Strong coaching and mentoring skills for hands-on learning environments

o Analytical and problem-solving mindset in troubleshooting control systems

o Adaptability to emerging automation technologies (IoT, Industry 4.0, smart

sensors, robotics integration)

 Trainer Qualification Standards (TESDA Benchmark)

o Holder of NC II/III in Instrumentation and Control Servicing or Industrial

Automation, or related qualifications (e.g., Mechatronics, EIM with automation

specialization)

o Possession of Trainer's Methodology Level I or II certification

o Relevant industry experience in process instrumentation, industrial automation,

or control systems integration
