The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, including dishwashing, garbage disposal, and kitchen equipment cleaning. They support chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring all utensils and workspaces are clean, organized, and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and dishes.
  • Operate industrial dishwasher and other cleaning equipment safely.
  • Ensure kitchen floors, walls, surfaces, and storage areas are clean and organized.
  • Remove garbage and recycling; ensure bins are emptied and cleaned regularly.
  • Assist in receiving and properly storing deliveries.
  • Follow safety and hygiene regulations in accordance with local health codes.
  • Report any maintenance issues or broken equipment to the supervisor.
  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff as needed, especially during busy periods.
  • Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and inform supervisor when running low.
  • Perform deep cleaning of kitchen areas according to schedule.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a steward or kitchen helper is a plus.
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation practices and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, hot, and humid environment.
  • Physically fit; able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 25 kg).
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexible with schedule; willing to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
