Job Summary:

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and its equipment. The role ensures that all kitchen utensils, dishes, cooking tools, and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained to support efficient kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, and pans.
  • Wash dishes, glasses, silverware, and other service items in accordance with sanitation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, walls, and all kitchen work areas.
  • Properly handle and dispose of garbage and recycling according to company and local regulations.
  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and storing food supplies and kitchen items.
  • Ensure that cleaning supplies are well-stocked and stored safely.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the Kitchen Supervisor immediately.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and occupational health procedures.
  • Assist kitchen staff in basic food preparation tasks when necessary.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in dishwashing and storage areas.

Qualifications:

  • At least a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a kitchen steward or in a similar role is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures in food handling.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced kitchen setting.
  • May be exposed to heat, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
