Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for accurately posting insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and refunds into the practice management system, while ensuring reconciliation of daily deposits. They will also be responsible for managing patient billing and statement processing. The role involves preparing and sending patient statements, responding to patient inquiries, and assisting with collections follow-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Post insurance and patient payments into the billing system
  • Process ERAs and paper EOBs accurately
  • Apply contractual adjustments and write-offs per payer contracts
  • Identify underpayments, overpayments, and discrepancies
  • Reconcile daily deposits with bank statements
  • Process refunds for patients and insurance payers
  • Escalate payment posting discrepancies to supervisor
  • Maintain accurate logs and posting records
  • Generate and send patient statements (electronic or paper)
  • Verify accuracy of balances before sending statements
  • Correct patient demographic/insurance info related to balances
  • Log and track all statement batches for reporting
  • Handle patient billing inquiries by phone/email
  • Set up and document patient payment plans
  • Escalate unresolved balances to collections or billing team
  • Coordinate with payment posters and billers to ensure accuracy of accounts

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in payment posting within medical billing/RCM.
  • Knowledge of insurance EOBs, ERAs, and denial codes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with practice management/EHR systems preferred.

· Knowledge of patient responsibility, balances, and statements.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
