Job Description

We're looking for a developer with experience in Dynamics 365 F&O (X++), Power BI, and PowerApps. This role emphasizes robust code maintenance, change control, revision tracking, and deployment practices. In addition, the candidate will participate in system upgrades and integration with production automation systems. General Purpose of the Position.

To contribute to the ongoing development, maintenance, and enhancement of our Dynamics 365 F&O platform. As part of an IT department, this role empowers a collaborative delivery model—fostering teamwork with IT peers across application support, infrastructure, business analysis, and QA to deliver ERP, BI, and automation solutions effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and customize Dynamics 365 F&O extensions and workflows using X++, adhering to clean code principles and coding standards.
  • Build advanced Power BI reports and dashboards, leveraging DAX, data modeling, and integration with D365 F&O.
  • Develop and maintain PowerApps (Canvas & Model-driven), including integrations with Dataverse, F&O, and external systems.
  • Manage code lifecycle using Azure DevOps, including branching strategies, CI/CD pipelines, change control, revision tracking, and deployment automation.
  • Test and update custom code during mandatory D365 upgrades, which must be applied twice per year minimum as per Microsoft's release cadence. This includes regression testing in non-production environments to identify and correct any conflicts between Microsoft's updates and custom logic
  • Implement and optimize integrations with production automation and manufacturing equipment, ensuring seamless data flow and monitoring via D365 F&O.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, such as functional designs, design specs, architecture diagrams, test plans, and release notes.
  • Conduct unit, integration, regression, and UAT testing to ensure solution stability and performance.
  • Monitor system performance; tune X++, SQL, and reporting components for optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including peers in the business systems analyst team, functional consultants, and SMEs withing the organization, to translate business needs into technical deliverables.
  • Provide ongoing Production support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience

  • 1–3+ years in Dynamics 365 F&O development using X++.
  • Experience with Power BI and PowerApps (Canvas & Model-driven).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, version control, CI/CD, and ALM practices
  • Experience with D365 upgrade cycles and regression testing.
  • Experience and/or interest in integrating manufacturing automation systems with ERP systems.

Technical Skills

  • Solid SQL knowledge, performance tuning, and familiarity with OData, REST, Dataverse, Dual-Write, Logic Apps, and Power Automate.

Soft Skills

  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills—able to translate technical details for diverse audiences.
  • Preferred Certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 F&O Developer or Functional Consultant
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate
  • Azure DevOps Engineer (or equivalent)
