Job Summary:
The Sous Chef assists the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations. This includes supervising food preparation, ensuring quality and consistency, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting kitchen staff. The Sous Chef also acts as the kitchen-in-charge in the absence of the Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and food production.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with recipes, standards, and portion control.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and sanitation standards.
- Coordinate with the service team to ensure timely and efficient food service.
- Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies; report shortages to the Head Chef.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen area.
- Implement safety and hygiene procedures in compliance with company and DOH standards.
- Support menu planning, costing, and development of new dishes.
