JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, organizes, leads, coordinates, controls the teaching-learning activities of the nursing personnel. Motivates nursing personnel to continue to gain knowledge and skills for professional growth and development. Helps provide means by which nursing personnel can interpret the goals and policies of the institution. Formulates Training Program according to the identified training needs of the staff. Implements and evaluates such training program in terms of knowledge learned by the staff; and evaluate the effectiveness of the program itself. Coordinate with the Unit Head Nurses in evaluating orientees and those who are on the 3rd month of the probationary period. Follow-up all trainees and orientees in the units where they are assigned to ensure implementation of the Nurse Core Competencies Guidelines of the DOH BON. Aids in the investigation and carrying out of appropriate steps on complaints, incidents and behavioral problems of the staff. Identifies causes that could be subjected for training and skills development. Participates in the quality of assurance program for the institution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning and Organizing
- Formulates training and development standards, policies, objectives, rules and regulations.
- Identifies Staff Development and Training needs.
- Prepares appropriate materials and resources.
- Prepares and recommends Training and Development Budget.
- Prepares / Reviews schedule of staff for in-serve, continuing education and training programs.
- Helps update unit orientation programs and procedure manual.
- Helps establish Total Quality Management (TQM).
- Develops forms and worksheets, subject for approval of the Division of Nursing.
Staffing
- Leads and oversees staff in the implementation of standards on patient care.
- Orients new nursing policies, rules, regulations, duties and responsibilities, etc.
- Initiates improvement of the standards of quality care as needed.
- Helps in the implementation of TQM activities.
- Helps investigate complaints of patient to identify possible causes, where training could be of help.
- Acts as a resource person.
Directing
- Promotes good internal intradepartmental public relations and participates in hospital activities.
- Conducts the third month performance evaluation of the orientees (new nursing personnel) in coordination with the Unit Head Nurse where the orientee is assigned and make recommendation accordingly.
- Motivates staff through commendations with the approval of the Head - Division of Nursing.
- Makes periodic rounds to do teaching - learning process as needed.
Controlling
- Trains staff according to the training programs and schedule.
- Ensure implementation of TQM activities.
- Recommends disciplinary action thru AH-PC in accordance with JDMH's Code of Conduct to the Head - Division of Nursing.
- Makes 24 hour report teaching - learning activities.
- Conducts coordinating meetings relative to training.
- Participates in handling disaster and emergencies.
- Helps implements hospital information system.
- Maintains harmonious coordinative relationship with other departments.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing with valid license
- Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or Administrative equivalent in related fields.
- At least 5 years working experience as Nursing Supervisor, and 5 years as Clinical Instructor
- executive ability in human resource (nursing personnel), administration and leadership.
- Ability to prepare the Nursing Service Training budget in coordination with other divisions, departments and sections concerned.
- Skillful in personnel counseling
- Has good understanding and application of Teaching-Learning Principles.
- Excellent communication and organization skills
