Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our team at Gaja Kitchen Stories Inc., a vibrant Japanese restaurant dedicated to delivering authentic and high-quality dishes. As a Line Cook, you will play a vital role in our kitchen, preparing delicious meals and ensuring that every dish meets our high standards for quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura, and other menu items according to recipes and restaurant standards.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized, maintaining proper food storage and sanitation practices.
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and tracking food costs.
  • Collaborate with fellow kitchen staff and communicate effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service times.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control to ensure consistency and adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in the creation and testing of new menu items and specials as needed.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment, assisting with training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a line cook, preferably in a Japanese or Asian cuisine setting.
  • Knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques and ingredients is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Food Handler's certification is a plus.
