The Senior Electrical Engineer (Primary HV Systems) will provide design input and assistance in the preparation of design concepts for HV systems

You'll work closely with clients (Quanta Operating Units) to align engineering output with broader project and business objectives.


About the Role

In this senior position, you will provide technical leadership and expertise across the full project lifecycle – from design concept through to commissioning. You'll contribute to technical engineering, business development, mentor junior engineers, and ensure projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver HV substation primary system designs, including earthing, insulation coordination, and electro-magnetic studies.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, scope documents, tenders, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
  • Liaise with internal design teams (civil, structural, overhead line).
  • Provide technical input and resolution during the construction and commissioning phases.
  • Actively support business development by contributing to tenders.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture and support the development of engineering capability.

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 6+ years' senior experience in substation primary design and/or utility grid connections.
  • Proven expertise across large-scale transmission and distribution projects, from concept to commissioning.
  • Strong capability in engineering drawings, tender preparation, and QA processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • A detail-oriented, practical, and outcomes-driven approach.
