JOB SUMMARY

The
Senior Data Engineer
is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data architectures and pipelines that support mission-critical applications and advanced analytics initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams—including data scientists, solution architects, business analysts, and software engineers—to ensure data availability, quality, reliability, and performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep expertise in modern data technologies, cloud-native platforms, and scalable data systems. They must excel at solving complex data challenges and leading best practices in data engineering.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Architecture & Pipeline Development

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, resilient data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build and optimize data architectures for analytics, reporting, and large-scale data processing.
• Implement data models (conceptual, logical, physical) supporting structured and unstructured data.
• Analyze APIs and connectors for seamless data integration.
• Conduct POCs on shortlisted data platforms.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

• Develop and deploy data solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Implement data lake, data warehouse, and lakehouse architectures using modern tooling (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse).
• Optimize storage, compute, and processing for cost efficiency and performance.

Data Quality, Governance & Security

• Establish and enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and error-handling processes.
• Support data governance initiatives including metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging.
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks relevant to client environments.
• Estimate resources and costs for data migration and maintenance.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Work closely with data scientists and analysts to enable advanced analytics, ML pipelines, and BI solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing engineering best practices.
• Participate in solution design sessions and provide technical input to architecture teams.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and technologies to improve data engineering capabilities.
• Drive automation using CI/CD pipelines, orchestration tools, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues and performance bottlenecks.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer, including building production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink).
• Proven hands-on experience with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with modern data warehousing and lakehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Delta Lake, BigQuery).
• Expertise in ETL/ELT design, data modeling, and schema design.
• Deep understanding of data security, encryption, access controls, and compliance.
• Experience working with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Proficient in using APIs and connectors for data integration.
• Ability to test and validate data solutions.

• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8AM to 6PM
