US Staff Accountant

ROLE SUMMARY

Our client, a Florida CPA firm, is seeking a highly adaptable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 3 to 5 years of US accounting experience to join their remote team. This role is designed for a utility player who will contribute across both tax preparation and bookkeeping functions. You will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting tax compliance, and ensuring smooth accounting operations for their clients.

WORK SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (9:00 PM – 6:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform the following bookkeeping and general accounting tasks:
• Record, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions in QuickBooks Online across multiple accounts and clients
• Maintain accurate general ledger balances, process journal entries, and manage closing procedures
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end account reconciliations for bank, credit card, and other balance sheet accounts
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely invoicing and payment processing
• Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports such as P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Perform the following tasks related to tax preparation and compliance:
• Assist with preparation of U.S. federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations using ProConnect Tax Online or equivalent software
• Gather, organize, and review client tax documentation to ensure completeness and compliance
• Maintain knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate reporting and timely filing
• Help with filing extensions, estimated payments, and other tax compliance tasks
• Perform the following tasks involving client support and communication:
• Work collaboratively with clients and internal stakeholders to gather financial data and clarify discrepancies
• Provide responsive support to client inquiries regarding their financial records, tax obligations, and general accounting questions
• Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and data integrity in all communications and documentation
• Perform the following tasks related to process improvements and software management:
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and tax processes using cloud-based tools and automation
• Maintain and update client records using accounting platforms and ensure data security best practices are followed
• Stay current on best practices and changes in US accounting and tax regulations to ensure continued compliance and efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on US accounting experience, including exposure to both tax and bookkeeping functions
• Strong understanding of GAAP and US tax compliance requirements
• Experience in reconciling complex financial data and preparing general ledger reports
• Prior experience working with US-based clients in a multi-client accounting environment is preferred
• 3 to 5 years of QuickBooks Online experience is a must
• Proficiency with ProConnect is strongly preferred; experience using similar tax preparation software (such as Lacerte or Drake) for US business and personal tax returns may be considered
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fully remote, deadline-driven environment
