Senior Mechanic – Job Description

Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Repair
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform advanced repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, fuel systems, and other components.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Execute test drives or equipment test runs to confirm repairs.
2. Technical Expertise
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
  • Recommend repair procedures, replacement parts, and maintenance strategies.
  • Identify recurring mechanical problems and propose long-term solutions.
3. Leadership & Training
  • Mentor, train, and support junior mechanics and technicians.
  • Assign tasks and provide guidance to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Review completed work for accuracy, safety, and compliance.
4. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Complete required documentation, including repair logs, inspection forms, and work orders.
5. Inventory & Equipment Management
  • Assist in ordering parts and maintaining inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and calibration of tools and diagnostic equipment.
