Position Summary:
The Solar PV Project Developer is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, from initial site identification and feasibility assessment through permitting, stakeholder engagement, and preparation for construction. This role requires a blend of technical, commercial, and project management skills to ensure projects are developed efficiently, meet regulatory requirements, and are financially viable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyse potential sites for solar PV (and battery storage) projects, considering resource, legal, environmental, and grid connection factors.
- Originate and develop new PV projects, including screening and selecting project opportunities and conducting prefeasibility studies.
- Negotiate and secure land purchase or lease agreements with landowners and manage permitting processes with relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal, procurement) and external stakeholders (landowners, public authorities, utilities, investors) to ensure smooth project progression.
- Lead deal structuring and commercial negotiations for project acquisition, partnerships, or joint ventures.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, timelines, and progress to meet objectives and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with planning, environmental, and grid connection regulations.
- Prepare and submit applications for relevant permits, subsidies, and licenses.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, and industry partners to facilitate project development and secure public support.
- Report regularly to senior management on project status, risks, and financial feasibility.
- Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven track record in solar PV project development, preferably with experience in large-scale ground-mounted projects.
- Strong understanding of permitting, land registry, and grid connection processes.
- Experience in commercial negotiations and financial modelling for renewable energy projects.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; additional project management or GIS software skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Willingness to travel as required for site visits and stakeholder meetings.
- Language requirements, e.g., fluency in English and Tagalog.
