Job Summary:

The Structural Engineer is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of solar PV installations, whether on rooftops, ground-mounted, or floating systems. This includes conducting detailed structural analyses, designing proper support systems, and ensuring all designs comply with local codes and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct rooftop structural analysis, including load-bearing calculations, reinforcement needs, and detailed mounting system design
  • For ground-mount or floating (pond) PV systems, design structural foundations (piles, raft/slab) considering local wind loads, soil conditions, and water levels
  • Review and finalize structural shop drawings with corresponding calculations
  • Ensure that installation plans comply with Philippine building codes and local safety standards
  • Provide on-site support and address any structural-related design clarifications or adjustments as needed
  • Participate in the structural portion of project acceptance and turnover
  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers and site supervisors to ensure proper coordination of installation planning and the structural integrity of mounting and anchoring systems
  • Check if the roof or ground can safely carry the weight of solar panels and mounting racks
  • Recommend the appropriate support or mounting system for each project
  • Ensure all installations are compliant with local safety and construction regulations
  • Guide contractors on-site on how to handle adjustments or structural concerns during installation
  • Ensure that solar panels are safely and securely installed, protecting the building and roof from potential damage caused by strong winds, heavy loads, or other environmental factors

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Civil Engineer, preferably with a specialization in Structural Engineering
  • With at least 3–5 years of relevant experience in structural design and analysis, ideally in solar PV systems or similar construction projects
  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, AutoCAD)
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine building codes, wind load standards, and local safety regulations
  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing structural drawings, design calculations, and foundation plans
  • Able to provide technical support and on-site guidance for structural adjustments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and safety-conscious
  • Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate with engineers, site supervisors, and contractors
  • Proactive and capable of ensuring compliance with local engineering and construction standards
