Job Description:

  • Reviews the existing product offerings in the assigned department.
  • Plans, manages, selects, and purchases merchandise from local or international suppliers.
  • Understands customer demand in terms of price, quality, and availability by conducting market and price surveys, analyzing sales trends, buying patterns, price movements, and product innovations, and reacting to changes in demand—essential for effective planning and product assortment selection.
  • Initiates and implements the development and sourcing of house or specialty brands that differentiate the store's offerings and enhance business profitability.
  • Develops and manages supplier relationships, including contract negotiations, while maximizing supplier terms and benefits.
  • Secures the best prices, terms, and support through effective supplier development and management.
  • Establishes and implements selection processes and reordering systems to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Ensures timely and accurate delivery of stocks from suppliers to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to stores.
  • Leads coordination with relevant internal teams to ensure the accurate upload of product information, descriptions, and costs into the POS system and ensures the same information is available at retail sites or branches.
  • Oversees strict monitoring and implementation of documentation and approval processes, from ordering to delivery and payment of goods and services, and drives continuous improvement in these processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the merchandising or retail industry is an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively under pressure.
