The Contracts Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for corporate operations, including large-scale construction projects. This role will ensure that operating costs are accurately tracked and stay within the approved budget limits. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in bidding processes, purchasing, and contract management, with a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Design Group to obtain technical information, bid plans, and specifications for the bidding process.
  • Prepare work breakdown structures, bidder lists, project schedules, and other necessary bid documents.
  • Distribute bid documents to identified contractors.
  • Facilitate the scheduling of site inspections and pre-bid meetings.
  • Prepare meeting minutes and issue bid bulletins as necessary.
  • Consolidate and forward bidder queries to the Design Group for responses.
  • Prepare bid comparisons and evaluations to assist in clarificatory meetings.
  • Review and check the completeness of bid proposals and required submittals.
  • Prepare endorsements for contract awards and purchase orders (POs).
  • Draft initial contracts and final construction agreements, ensuring compliance with necessary bonds and attachments.
  • Organize and maintain a complete file of all bid documents and purchase orders for future reference.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer.
  • At least 1 year of experience in bidding, purchasing, or similar functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other procurement/purchasing software.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, comprehension, and communication skills (both oral and written).
