Position Title:
Monitoring Specialist

Position Objective / Job Summary

The Monitoring Specialist is responsible for providing 1st-level support for all alerts and monitoring-supported services globally, ensuring prompt, professional, and courteous responses.

Key Functions

  • Monitor network and systems health, investigate alerts, and report findings using monitoring software.
  • Conduct initial analysis, troubleshooting, escalation, and coordination of incidents per defined processes.
  • Log, tag, track, and perform first-level fixes for servers, networks, and applications in line with SLAs.
  • Coordinate with internal IT groups (Infrastructure, Applications, etc.) to ensure SLA compliance.
  • Adhere to company policies and Information Security standards.


Primary Technical Abilities

Monitoring Specialist Task Proficiency

  • Proficient in PC Operating Systems (Windows 98/XP/2000/7 and above).
  • Skilled in Windows Server OS and Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledgeable in Linux Operating Systems.
  • Ability to monitor assigned tasks and generate scheduled global reports.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Nagios
    — setup, configuration, alert management, navigation, and administration are highly preferred.
  • Familiar with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Elastic, SolarWinds, and similar systems.
  • Ability to research and utilize manuals, knowledge bases, and other resources.
  • Collaborates effectively with other Monitoring Support Specialists and IT colleagues.
  • Eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and situations.

Teamwork

  • Willing to assist other Monitoring Support Specialists during unavailability or emergencies.
  • Able to hand over and document ongoing tasks for the next shift or team member.


Secondary Technical Abilities

  • Familiarity with the ITIL framework.
  • Knowledge of ticketing tools.


Supplementary Information (Requirements)

Education:

  • Bachelor's/College degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in monitoring tasks or infrastructure support (problem tracking and incident management).
  • Advantage: Exposure to application, network environment, and software tool setup, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Advantage: Experience in customer interaction.

Skills:

  • Highly organized with strong prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
  • Able to explain technical functions simply for non-technical users.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of scheduling, organizing, and managing work assignments.
  • Proficient in computer operations: SQL Databases, Windows OS, Linux OS.
