About the role

As a Credit & Collection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing the company's credit and collection processes. This full-time position is responsible for managing customer credit risk, ensuring timely collection of payments and maintaining accurate and up-to-date account records. This role works closely with the Sales, Finance and Customer service team to support healthy cash flow and minimize bad debt exposure.

What you'll be doing

Credit Management

  • Review and manage customer credit limits; release orders on hold in accordance with company policies.
  • Conduct credit checks and risk assessment for small customers (typically under $10,000 exposure)
  • Monitor and report on accounts exceeding credit terms or showing early signs of credit risk.

Collections

  • Review accounts receivable (A/R) aging reports regularly to identify delinquent accounts.
  • Monitor customer payments patterns and investigate irregularities or delays.
  • Contact customers via phone, email, or online portals to follow up on all past-due invoices.
  • Escalate collection issues as needed and collaborate with internal teams to resolve disputes.

Account Receivable (A/R)

  • Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of customer balances.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Dispute shortage claims and any unauthorized deductions; follow up with customers to ensure timely reversal or repayment.
  • Process and validate authorized deductions (e.g., discounts, markdowns, promotional agreements).

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in a credit and collections role, account receivable preferably in global clients. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or other related field.
  • Strong analytical, communications and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to liaise with customers and resolve payment issues
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and data analysis required)
  • Proficiency with ERP and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
