Position Overview

The Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical) is a vital team member responsible for managing costs, contracts, and designs related to mechanical systems in construction projects. This position ensures that all mechanical installations, including HVAC, piping, and other systems, are completed on budget and meet high standards of quality, safety, and design integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and other installations.
  • Oversee the design review and ensure the feasibility and compliance of mechanical systems with project requirements.
  • Provide input and recommendations on mechanical design optimization to balance cost, performance, and project objectives.
  • Manage and monitor mechanical contracts, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions.
  • Evaluate and negotiate variations and change orders for mechanical works.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and managers to forecast and control project costs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, validate completed work, and ensure design specifications are followed.
  • Prepare financial reports and assist in creating tender documents for mechanical works.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Knowledgeable in schematic designs to visualize, communicate and analyze mechanical system.
  • Must have design experience
  • Can work in a hybrid set up
  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIQS) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical quantity surveying and design review.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, installation methods, and design practices.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software, mechanical design tools, and drawing interpretation.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
