Job Description:

A BIM Architect (Building Information Modeling Architect) is responsible for developing and managing digital representations of building designs using BIM software. They coordinate architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) models to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle — from concept design through construction and facility management.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. BIM Model Development


• Create, manage, and update 3D BIM models using software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, or similar tools.


• Develop detailed architectural models with precise geometry and data attributes.

  1. Coordination & Collaboration


• Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate all design disciplines.


• Participate in BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes using tools like Navisworks or Solibri.

  1. Design Support


• Assist in developing concept and schematic designs through BIM visualization.


• Produce accurate construction documents, drawings, and schedules directly from BIM models.

  1. BIM Standards & Implementation


• Maintain and enforce company or project BIM standards, templates, and workflows.


• Develop BIM execution plans (BEP) and ensure compliance across all teams.

  1. Quality Assurance & Data Management


• Perform model audits, quality checks, and ensure data accuracy.


• Manage model versions, file naming, and cloud collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360, Autodesk Docs).

  1. Visualization & Presentation


• Create realistic renderings, walkthroughs, and presentations for client reviews.


• Support project teams in communicating design intent through BIM data and visuals.

  1. Training & Support


• Provide BIM training, mentorship, and support for architectural team members.


• Stay updated on BIM technologies, workflows, and industry best practices.

Job Requirements:

Education:


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.


• Professional registration (e.g., RA, RIBA, LEED, etc.) is often preferred but not always required.

Experience:


• 3–7 years of architectural design experience with at least 2+ years in BIM management or modeling.


• Proven experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other BIM tools.

Technical Skills:


• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, ArchiCAD, or similar BIM platforms.


• Knowledge of BIM 360, Enscape, Twinmotion, or other visualization software.


• Strong understanding of construction processes, detailing, and building systems.


• Familiarity with BIM standards such as ISO 19650 or AIA BIM protocols.

Soft Skills:


• Excellent coordination, communication, and teamwork abilities.


• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.


• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to design and collaboration.


• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:


• BIM certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional – Revit Architecture).


• Experience with parametric design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper).


• Knowledge of sustainable design principles and integration in BIM.
