Overview

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and systems-savvy Payroll Data Analyst to support end-to-end payroll and invoicing operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong Excel and data manipulation skills who enjoys making processes efficient and accurate. You'll work closely with client payroll data, ensuring timesheets, pay runs, and invoices are correct, compliant, and processed on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process client timesheet data from systems such as Kronos, transforming files into the FoundU import format.
  • Import data into FoundU, manage approvals, and resolve data errors or duplications.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks—comparing draft pays against client submissions and verifying the accuracy of pay outcomes.
  • Review and approve draft invoices in FoundU, ensuring correct charge rates and amounts.
  • Upload approved invoices into Xero and generate client payroll reports as required.
  • Maintain the Payroll inbox, triaging and resolving queries or escalating them appropriately.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and data accuracy across payroll operations.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and dataset comparison.
  • High level of system literacy and comfort working across multiple digital platforms.
  • Proven experience in data manipulation and process improvement.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and how a P&L operates.
  • Experience with raising and processing invoices.
  • Familiarity with Australian payroll awards (different rates for shifts such as morning, afternoon, or night).

Desirable:

  • Experience with FoundU, Kronos, or Xero.
  • Exposure to payroll or finance functions in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively under pressure.
