GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Tax Assistant supports the Tax Officer in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting and payments for PNB Holdings Corporation (PHC). The role involves assisting in the preparation and review of tax schedules, returns, and documentation, maintaining organized records, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth tax operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the preparation and timely filing of national and local tax returns (e.g., Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, DST, CGT, etc.) and ensure compliance with BIR regulations.
- Supports the Tax Officer in monitoring local government compliance, including real property tax, business permits, and other local levies.
- Prepares tax-related schedules and working papers to ensure accuracy and Reconcile tax accounts with the General Ledger and assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Compiles and organizes supporting documents for BIR audits and other regulatory reviews.
- Maintains a well-organized filing system for all tax-related documents, correspondences, and communications.
- Conducts basic research on tax regulations and assists in cascading updates to relevant departments.
- Coordinates with internal departments to gather necessary data for tax filings and respond to tax-related queries.
- Assists in preparing tax projections and reports for management review.
- Provides support in responding to BIR and other regulatory inquiries under the guidance of the Tax Officer.
Other tasks
- Participates in tax-related projects and initiatives aimed at improving compliance and efficiency.
- Collaborates with other departments to provide basic tax insights on transactions with potential tax implications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Tax Officer or Tax Manager
JOB PROFILE
Educational Background
- The candidate must be a graduate of a bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Business Administration, Financial Management or any equivalent.
Professional Background
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in tax compliance or accounting, preferably in the real estate or property management industry.
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Knowledge Requirements
- Must have basic knowledge of Philippine tax laws and regulations;
- Must be familiar with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS);
- Must have experience in using a computerized accounting system; and
- Must be proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office applications.
Skills Requirements
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
- Must have good analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills; and
Ability Requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
