The Facilities Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) systems across the organization's facilities. This role ensures operational efficiency, safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability of all building systems. The ideal candidate will coordinate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage schedules, monitor construction and maintenance activities, and oversee project documentation and reporting.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Construction Oversight

  • Review and interpret construction documents, architectural blueprints, and engineering plans.
  • Verify that on-site construction complies with approved designs and technical standards.
  • Identify discrepancies between plans and actual conditions; coordinate with project teams for resolution.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to clarify design elements and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Bar Bending Schedule and determine required materials.
  • Work with the procurement team for accurate and timely ordering of construction materials.
  • Break down projects into manageable phases and create work plans and construction schedules.
  • Monitor project timelines and ensure work is completed according to the planned schedule.

MEPF Design & Implementation

  • Design MEPF systems for new and existing facilities based on feasibility studies and industry standards.
  • Utilize CAD software, SolidWorks, and other design tools to develop technical layouts.
  • Supervise on-site implementation of MEPF systems and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and adherence to safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during construction or operations.

Facilities Maintenance & Operations

  • Implement and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all building systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
  • Maintain compliance with fire safety codes, emergency response plans, and health & safety standards.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives to reduce energy consumption and promote eco-friendly practices.
  • Manage external service providers and vendor contracts for facility-related services.
  • Track facility-related expenses and contribute to budget planning and cost optimization.
  • Ensure all operations align with building codes, environmental regulations, and accessibility standards.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of drawings, specifications, inspections, and correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit regular project progress reports and updates to key stakeholders.
  • Keep engineering manuals and technical documentation up to date.
  • Utilize project management tools for tracking and reporting.
  • Conduct regular audits, safety checks, and training sessions for facilities staff.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer (ME).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in facilities management or mechanical engineering, preferably in a large-scale facility.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent project coordination and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external contractors.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, building codes, and energy management systems.

Preferred:

  • BOSH (Basic Occupational Safety and Health) certification.
  • Experience using CAD, SolidWorks, or other engineering design software.
  • Experience working in logistics, industrial, or commercial facilities.
