Job description:

The Finance Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across financial functions. This role ensures financial sustainability, statutory compliance, and financial transparency in support of the organisation's mission. The Finance Manager oversees financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls while supporting executive leadership with data-informed insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with ACNC and ATO requirements.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes across departments.
  • Ensure all financial practices comply with Australian Accounting Standards, ACNC regulations, and FBT/salary packaging rules.
  • Lead financial audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Supervise finance staff and oversee finance system improvements.
  • Support financial modelling for new programs, grants and acquisitions.
  • Prepare reports for Board and Executive Committee.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, service delivery, fundraising and operations.

Qualification and requirements:

  • CA or CPA qualified.
  • 7+ years' experience in financial leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in not-for-profit, charity, or mission-aligned organisations.
  • High-level proficiency in MYOB/Xero and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field.
  • Strong preference for an advanced degree such as an MBA, or financial certifications like CPA/CFA.

SOFTWARE:

  • Expert proficiency in financial management software such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.
  • Mastery in Microsoft Excel for advanced financial modeling and reporting.

Desirable:

  • Experience in implementing finance systems or process automation.
  • Prior exposure to government or philanthropic funding models.
