Job Summary:

The Litigation Lawyer is responsible for handling, managing, and overseeing all litigation and dispute-related matters involving the company. The role provides legal support to protect the company's interests in regulatory, civil, labor, and administrative proceedings. This position requires strong legal acumen, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external counsels to ensure efficient resolution of legal issues.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Litigation Management

  • Represent the company in various legal proceedings, including civil, criminal, labor, tax, and administrative cases.

  • Manage and coordinate with external counsels for effective case handling and strategy formulation.
  • Prepare pleadings, affidavits, position papers, and other legal documents.
  • Monitor case status, hearings, and deadlines to ensure timely compliance with court and regulatory requirements.

  • Legal Advisory and Risk Mitigation

  • Provide sound legal advice to management and business units on matters that may lead to disputes or litigation.

  • Evaluate potential legal exposure and recommend preventive or corrective actions.
  • Support the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts to mitigate future legal risks.

  • Regulatory and Compliance Support

  • Liaise with government agencies (e.g., ERC, DOE, DENR, DOLE, LGUs) to address compliance or regulatory issues.

  • Ensure that the company adheres to relevant laws, rules, and regulations affecting the power and energy sector.
  • Assist in internal investigations and ensure compliance with corporate governance and ethics policies.

  • Dispute Resolution

  • Explore and implement alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and arbitration.

  • Provide strategic advice to management on settlement options and risk implications.

  • Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain and update case files, litigation records, and legal reports for management reference.

  • Prepare summaries and briefings for key stakeholders on ongoing and resolved cases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law and must be a member of the Philippine Bar.
  • At least 5–8 years of experience in litigation practice, preferably with exposure to energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong background in civil, labor, administrative, and regulatory litigation.
  • Excellent negotiation, legal writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel for hearings and site-related legal matters as needed.
