Role Summary

The
Project Associate for Community Affairs
will be at the heart of Masungi's mission to engage, empower, and mobilize communities—especially the youth—in protecting the environment. The role will involve activating and organizing local youth volunteers, designing and executing community engagement and education campaigns, managing relationships with local and strategic partners, and helping counter disinformation that undermines conservation efforts.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about conservation, has strong people skills, and can balance grassroots community work with professional relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement & Volunteer Activation
  • Organize and activate youth volunteers for conservation and education initiatives.
  • Facilitate training, workshops, and learning opportunities to strengthen youth leadership in environmental stewardship.
  • Coordinate grassroots community events that promote conservation awareness and action.
  • Education & Campaigns
  • Execute and support local education campaigns on conservation and planetary health.
  • Develop creative strategies to communicate conservation messages to diverse audiences.
  • Work with schools, teachers, and community groups to integrate conservation into local activities.
  • Relationship & Partnership Management
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with local leaders, partner organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Serve as a key liaison for communities and local partners, ensuring open communication and trust.
  • Support the development of partnerships with civic, youth, and women's groups to broaden Masungi's impact.
  • Countering Disinformation & Strategic Advocacy Support
  • Monitor and respond to local disinformation that affects Masungi and conservation.
  • Support the creation of fact-based content, grassroots campaigns, and local networks that reinforce truth and trust.
  • Assist in documenting community stories and experiences that highlight the importance of conservation.
  • Project Management & Reporting
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and documentation for community programs.
  • Provide regular progress reports and evaluations of community engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other Masungi teams to align community work with the organization's overall strategy.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Community engagement experience
    (formal or informal, e.g., volunteer organizing, grassroots work, NGO/CSO work)
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
    , both in Filipino and English.
  • Project management skills
    – ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, track progress, and deliver outcomes.
  • Education campaign
    execution experience (preferred; formal or informal).
  • Ability to
    counter misinformation
    with fact-based communication and community trust-building.
  • Genuine passion for
    conservation, youth empowerment, and social impact
    .
  • Willingness to be on-site regularly at Masungi and in nearby communities.
