Your Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of relevant work experience
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in data entry and retrieval using a standard keyboard
• Superior customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain master patient index by completing the assigned portion of the daily audit trail; correct and communicate problems according to established procedures
• Initiate medical records by creating and processing patient care record folders
• Maintain record availability by processing charts, using chart mark-off procedures, and facilitating chart location activities
• Communicate availability or unavailability of records to healthcare providers
• Request, upload, and log medical records
• Assist billing department with fulfilling requests for medical records
• Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations
• Prepare medical records for submission to insurance
• Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain continuity of work operations
• Follow HIPAA policies and procedures to secure protected health information
• Perform other duties as assigned
