Role Description

We're looking for a Financial Data Analyst to join our research team and help maintain the quality, completeness, and accuracy of our proprietary financial modeling database — which covers over 30,000 global companies.

This is an execution-heavy, detail-driven role focused on applying and improving data quality controls within a complex, model-driven environment. You'll work directly with the VP of Investment research and our head Director of Research to apply manual adjustments to improve the data, audit financial output, identify inconsistencies, and propose scalable ways to improve quality control and financial data workflows.

The position has support from junior analysts and a technical data team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong sense of accountability, process thinking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, research-focused setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply and audit company-specific financial model adjustments
  • Proactively identify missing data points and structural anomalies in financial database
  • Design and improve systems to extend logic from past manual adjustments into future periods
  • Analyze trends in key financial metrics (e.g., effective tax rate, asset life, proprietary performance indicators) and surface outliers
  • Collaborate with financial analysts to assign and validate manual work on company models
  • Periodically work with data analysts and a project manager to support automation of recurring adjustments
  • Recommend improvements to auditing logic, exception reporting, and error resolution workflows
  • Help build structure around ongoing data QA — from recurring checks to anomaly flagging heuristics

Must-Haves:

  • 2–4 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, auditing, or financial data QA
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets
  • Foundational knowledge of financial statements, GAAP, and IFRS
  • Analytical problem-solver with a structured, process-oriented mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong accountability for independent work
  • Willingness to ask questions, surface issues, and work through ambiguity
  • Availability for at least 4–6 hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Familiarity with data auditing tools, process automation concepts, or logic-based QA workflows
