Business Development Manager, Philippines

Main purpose of position

We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our global team in Manila, Philippines, contributing to our mission of Improving our future. In this role, you will be responsible for driving growth in our solar, wind, and battery energy storage system (BESS) development activities across the Philippines.

As Business Development Manager, you will lead in identifying, securing, and developing renewable energy projects—from early-stage opportunities through to financial close and commencement of construction.

You will be expected to analyze market dynamics, originate and structure complex transactions, negotiate agreements, and manage both internal and external development processes. Success in this role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and strong leadership to guide projects to construction readiness.

Main responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the development of and updating of the strategy for Scatec within the region
  • Lead market reviews, analysing regulatory issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects, and develop business and project development strategies for the region
  • Identify key markets, customers, and project opportunities to be prioritized for development
  • Develop a deep understanding of the power market within the region
  • Identify and nurture relationships with local/regional developers, brokers, banks, contractors, suppliers etc. to identify solar, wind, BESS, and other project opportunities  
  • Identify, screen, evaluate and acquire new business and project opportunities
  • Negotiate with prospective partners and establish project development or acquisition agreements to take over projects
  • Support or lead project development and structuring of secured projects under development
  • Support the processes of project finance and execution preparations for the projects
  • Support process of local set-up, where required
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external project development efforts including securing land, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights from utilities, negotiating PPAs with utilities, establishing EPC and O&M agreements, as well as securing project equity and debt financing.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, law or other relevant fields. MBA or Master's degree in finance/law/policy an advantage but not required
  • Experience: At least years of relevant professional experience, which could include experience within renewable energy project development and/or investment, management consulting or investment banking, among other professional backgrounds
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills
  • Experience with originating, managing, and closing complex transactions, including deal structuring and project finance
  • Strong understanding of relevant power markets, network within renewable energy space in region, and exposure to regulatory and environmental credit schemes relevant to renewable energy a plus
  • Working knowledge and understanding of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, permitting requirements, bidding processes, EPC contract terms and conditions is preferable, but not strictly required
  • Strong knowledge of business fundamentals and financial analysis
  • Language: fluent both written and spoken in English
