JOB OVERVIEW
The Bookkeeper/Compliance Officer is a critical, dual-function role responsible for the accurate, day-to-day recording and reconciliation of all financial transactions while simultaneously monitoring, implementing, and enforcing internal controls and external regulatory requirements across the organization. This position ensures the financial records are reliable, transparent, and fully compliant with all applicable laws, accounting standards, and internal policies, thereby safeguarding the company's fiscal and legal integrity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Bookkeeping
- Account Reconciliation: Perform timely and thorough reconciliation of all bank accounts and correcting all discrepancies promptly.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Internal Control Enforcement: Develop, document, and enforce internal financial policies and procedures.
- Permit and Licensing Management: Maintain and renew all necessary business licenses, operational permits, and required corporate registrations to ensure the company remains in continuous compliance with local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
- Risk Assessment: Proactively review business processes to identify potential areas of compliance risk, recommending and implementing corrective actions to mitigate exposure.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Generate reliable monthly/quarterly financial reports (Balance Sheet, Income Statement) for management review.
- Audit Preparedness: Prepare all necessary supporting schedules, working papers, and documentation required for both internal and external financial and regulatory audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred: Candidates with specific coursework in corporate law, taxation, risk management, or regulatory compliance. Experience3-5 years of progressive experience encompassing both full-cycle bookkeeping/accounting duties and direct compliance or internal audit responsibilities.
Certification: Certified Bookkeeper (CB), Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB), or working towards a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Compliance: Certification in Compliance and Ethics (CCEP), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), or similar industry-specific compliance credentials.
