Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for our senior residents in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines. This role ensures that all food is prepared safely, presented attractively, and served on time while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and kitchen organization.
The position requires a compassionate individual who understands the importance of proper nutrition and food quality in supporting the health and well-being of elderly residents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and quality standards at all times.
- Follow meal plans provided by the Clinical Department, including special or therapeutic diets.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, storage, and food preparation areas.
- Monitor and manage food inventory and storage, ensuring freshness and correct stock rotation.
- Assist in preparing purchase orders based on accurate forecasting and consumption trends.
- Coordinate with Nursing and Clinical teams regarding residents' dietary concerns or restrictions.
- Support menu adjustments or substitutions as needed, while maintaining nutritional balance.
- Supervise and assist in plating and serving meals to ensure quality and portion consistency.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Residence Manager or Operations Department.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or Vocational course in Culinary Arts, Food Technology, or related field. with NC II certificate
- At least 2 years of experience as a Cook, preferably in a nursing home, hospital, or healthcare facility.
- Knowledge in therapeutic diets (e.g., low-salt, diabetic, soft diet) and proper food portioning.
- Familiar with DOH and LGU food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods in a busy kitchen environment.
- Willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrates reliability, discipline, and a caring attitude toward elderly residents.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo medical examination and food handling orientation prior to employment.
- Background check and reference verification will be conducted.
- Attendance and punctuality are essential to ensure timely meal service.
