Accounting Associate – Process & Control

Department: Finance

Reports to: Finance Head

Supervises: None

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization and Design

  • Analyze and Map current financial workflows (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Fixed Assets) to identify bottlenecks, control gaps, and inefficiencies.
  • Design and implement optimized, standardized processes and procedures utilizing Industrial Engineering techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce waste and cycle time in financial operations.
  • Develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials for new and revised accounting processes.

Financial Control and Compliance

  • Implement and monitor internal controls (preventive and detective) over financial transactions and reporting, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation for and coordination of internal and external audits by providing process documentation and evidence of control effectiveness.
  • Conduct periodic control testing and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to established guidelines.

Accounting Support and Reporting

  • Assist the accounting team with month-end and year-end closing procedures, focusing on ensuring data quality and transactional accuracy.
  • Reconcile complex general ledger accounts and investigate variances, focusing on the root cause analysis related to process failures.
  • Support the preparation of periodic financial reports by validating underlying data integrity.

System and Documentation Management

  • Act as the functional link between Accounting and IT for ERP/financial system enhancements, testing, and implementation.
  • Manage and maintain the master repository of all accounting policies, process flows, and control matrices.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) or a related engineering field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience in process improvement, internal audit, financial analysis, or an accounting/finance function is preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of business process modeling and flow charting.
  • Knowledge of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and basic accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, visualization tools).
