The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ensures the organization's fiscal health by leading all financial planning, budgeting, accounting, investment, and compliance functions. It safeguards resources, monitors revenues and expenditures, and delivers accurate, transparent financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.

The office coordinates with all departments to align financial activities with corporate goals, manages funding and capital requirements, evaluates growth opportunities, and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory standards. Working with the CEO and Board of Directors, it drives sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and sound fiscal governance.

Summary (Why does the job exist?)

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for ensuring the organization's fiscal health, providing strategic leadership over financial operations, compliance, and planning. This role builds and leads a top-performing finance and accounting team, supports business growth initiatives, oversees investment and funding activities, and partners with the CEO and Board of Directors to guide long-term financial strategy.

Metrics

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the development of the annual corporate budget, rolling forecasts, and multi-year plans.
  • Coordinate with all business units to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Ensure all financial plans reflect realistic market and operational assumptions.

  • Budget and forecast submissions delivered on time.

  • Forecast-to-actual variance within the set percentage.

Financial Analysis & Business Insights

  • Conduct profitability, cost, and trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare competitor and market benchmarking studies.
  • Recommend actions that drive growth and cost optimization.

  • Number of actionable recommendations implemented.

  • Timeliness of monthly/quarterly analysis and reports.

Strategic Advisory to Leadership & BOD

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Board and C-suite.
  • Provide scenario modeling, investment appraisals, and risk-reward analysis.
  • Support strategic initiatives with financial feasibility studies.

  • % of requested analyses delivered within agreed timelines.

Performance Monitoring & KPI Management

  • Define and track company-wide financial KPIs.
  • Maintain dashboards that provide timely visibility into performance.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure KPI-driven decision-making.

  • Timely delivery of KPI dashboards and reports.

  • High utilization rate of KPI tools across departments.

Risk Management & Financial Control Support

  • Identify potential financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support the COO in ensuring adherence to internal financial controls and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor macroeconomic factors that may impact company performance.

  • Risk assessment reports delivered on schedule.

  • No major audit findings related to Finance and Accounting

Investment & Capital Planning

  • Support evaluation of capital expenditure proposals and ROI analysis.
  • Monitor capital deployment against strategic priorities.
  • Advise on optimal funding and capital allocation strategies.

  • ROI on approved investments meets or exceeds target.

  • Capex utilization rate within approved thresholds.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnering

  • Build strong relationships with business unit leaders to align strategies.
  • Act as a financial coach to non-financial managers.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration for strategic initiatives.

  • Stakeholder satisfaction score

Market Intelligence & External Benchmarking

  • Track industry trends, competitor movements, and macroeconomic indicators.
  • Translate market insights into strategic financial recommendations.

  • Number of strategic shifts supported by external insights.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts to enhance analytical and business partnering skills.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Ensure succession planning and skill-building for critical FP&A roles.

  • Achievement of individual development plans by team members.

  • Support HSE activities and programs of the company.
  • Ensure that business continuity plans and risk management frameworks include provisions for workplace safety, cybersecurity resilience, and environmental considerations.
  • Ensure all decisions are in accordance with the Policy and Procedures
  • Approves budgets, capital expenditures, and investments within corporate policies and delegated limits.
  • Decides on strategic partnerships, and divestitures (subject to Board approval).
  • Determines allocation of financial resources to support corporate priorities and risk management.
  • Perform other related tasks as required by immediate superior.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and interact. This is largely a sedentary role. Frequent travel may be expected for this position.
  • May require occasional travel for board meetings, investor relations, industry events, or site inspections.

Qualifications (Minimum attributes for the job holder to be effective in this job in terms of education and certifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration is required.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or equivalent professional certification is required.
  • Additional certifications in corporate governance, risk management, or strategic finance are an advantage.

Professional Experience (Minimum experience for the job holder to be effective with minimal training. This may include specific industries where the preferred skill may be exhibited.)

  • Minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.
