Client: Parker Black and Forrest (PBF)
PBF was established over 50 years ago in Perth, Western Australia, and have since then grown to be the benchmark in providing architectural door hardware specification and supply/distribution. PBF supplies door hardware to over 80% of the commercial projects within Western Australia.
Our operations have grown to include:
- Specification services – writing of door hardware schedules for builders and architects;
- Supply door hardware – delivering to site on a just in time basis, all door hardware for commercial projects;
- Supply Fixtures Fittings and Hardware (FF&E) – delivering to site on a just in time basis washroom and other hardware.
- Locksmithing services – annually, our in-house team builds over 20,000 cylinders and cuts 100,000 keys;
- Service and maintenance – ongoing services to our clients such as repairs, maintenance, new cylinder installations
- Installation services – onsite teams install hardware for smaller projects
- Electronic Systems – system design, installation, and commissioning of Electronic Access Control systems, CCTV, and security alarms.
PBF currently employs 43 Staff in Perth, Western Australia, and 15 Staff in the Philippines.
As part of the EAC team, you will be working with one Tender Engineer based in PH and three other AU staff in tendering and project delivery.
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior Pre-Sales Engineer – Electronic Security Systems
JOB TYPE: Full Time.
LOCATION: Ortigas Office.
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Engineering Manager and ultimately EAC Manager
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Pre-Sales Engineer to join our team, specialising in electronic security systems, including Access Control systems, IP-CCTV Surveillance systems, and Audio and Video Intercom systems. In this role, you will serve as the technical bridge between our sales team and clients, helping to design solutions that meet customer needs and align with our product capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Evaluation: Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope, requirements, and timelines of the project.
Cost Estimation: Conduct a detailed cost analysis by examining various factors such as labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and other expenses.
Bidding and Proposal Preparation: Preparing competitive bids and proposals for potential projects. Collaborate with the sales team, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop pricing strategies.
Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure security systems are delivered on time and within budget. Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to procure necessary equipment and materials.
Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients. Interacting with Australian-based customers and suppliers both via email and over the phone.
Support tender responses, RFIs, and RFPs with accurate technical input.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications:
Bachelor/College Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Proven experience in a pre-sales or technical engineering role, ideally in security or access control systems.
Strong understanding of electronic security solutions, including access control, CCTV, and related technologies.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a way that is clear to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and solution design capabilities.
Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions within deadlines.
Experience:
5 years of previous experience in a similar role is desired.
Skills:
An ability to prepare and interpret construction plans, schedules, quotations, and BOM.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and advanced MS Excel skills.
Basic knowledge in AutoCAD (2D only)
Hands-on experience with project management tools
Knowledgeable in creating estimates and bill of materials.
Willing to learn and be trained for the brand the Client carry such as Salto System (Wireless Access Control System), Inner Range Integriti System, Hikvision IP CCTV and Intercom, etc
