Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Engineer to develop and implement health and safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe working environment. The Safety Engineer will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, evaluating risks, and designing solutions that comply with regulatory standards to prevent accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential safety hazards through inspections and risk assessments in the workplace, and recommend corrective or preventative measures.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable safety regulations and standards.

  • Policy Development: Develop and enforce health and safety protocols, procedures, and training programs.

  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, or near misses and generate incident reports with root cause analysis.

  • Training: Conduct safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and management on safe work practices and emergency response procedures.

  • Auditing: Perform regular site audits and inspections to ensure safe work practices and adherence to safety policies.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, risk assessments, training, and incident reports.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and human resources teams to integrate safety into all aspects of business operations.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the development and execution of emergency response and disaster preparedness plans.

  • Technology Integration: Utilize safety management software and tools to track incidents, audits, and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CSP, CHST, NEBOSH).

  • At least five (5) years of experience in road safety design.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk management principles.

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, energy, or industrial sectors is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Proficient in safety software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and field work.

  • May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Occasional travel to various job sites or facilities.
