About the Role:

The
Civil Design Management Engineer

is responsible for
managing, coordinating, and controlling all civil and structural design activities related to the substation and transmission line scope of an onshore wind power project.

The role works in close collaboration with the Electrical Design Management Engineer to ensure that civil designs fully support electrical systems, constructability, safety, and long-term operation, in compliance with international and local design standards and EPC contract requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Civil Design Management & Multidisciplinary Coordination

• Manage and coordinate all civil and structural design works for substations and transmission lines within the EPC scope.
• Coordinate closely with the Electrical Design Management Engineer to ensure alignment between civil layouts, equipment foundations, electrical clearances, loads, and interfaces.
• Review and manage civil design deliverables, including:
• Site grading and earthworks
• Foundations for electrical equipment, transformers, gantries, and transmission structures
• Control buildings and auxiliary facilities
• Cable trenches, duct banks, access roads, drainage, and fencing
• Manage interfaces between civil works, geotechnical studies, electrical systems, and construction methodology.

2. Design Standards & Technical Compliance

• Ensure all civil and structural designs comply with:
• Contract requirements and Employer's Technical Specifications
• International and regional standards, including but not limited to:
• British Standards (BS / Eurocodes)
• American Standards (ACI, AISC, ASTM, ASCE)
• Philippine Codes and Standards (NSCP and relevant local regulations)
• Other applicable international codes and best engineering practices
• Review geotechnical investigation reports and ensure appropriate foundation design solutions.
• Identify civil design risks, constructability issues, and safety concerns, and propose mitigation measures.

3. Design Control, Schedule & Change Management

• Monitor civil design progress against the approved design schedule and coordinate key milestones with electrical design activities.
• Support evaluation of civil-related design changes, deviations, and technical variations.
• Ensure timely issuance of approved-for-construction (AFC) civil drawings and documents.

4. Support to Construction & Procurement

• Provide technical support during construction, including responses to site technical queries and design clarifications.
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and temporary works designs as required.
• Support procurement activities through preparation and review of civil-related technical specifications.

5. Software Tools & Engineering Applications

• Apply and review designs developed using internationally recognized engineering software, such as:
• Structural: STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE
• Geotechnical: PLAXIS, GEO5
• Civil & Infrastructure: AutoCAD, Civil 3D
• Ensure proper use of design tools and consistency of engineering outputs.

6. Communication & Reporting

• Act as the primary civil design interface with the Employer/Engineer, design consultants, and internal EPC teams.
• Participate in design review meetings, constructability reviews, and value engineering workshops.
• Prepare civil design reports, technical submissions, and correspondence in English.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in civil/structural design and/or design management.
• Proven experience in substation, transmission line, wind power, or power infrastructure projects, preferably under EPC contracts.
• Experience working with international consultants and projects governed by British, American, and Philippine standards is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrates a proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and develop;
• Available for business travel and long-term assignment in Laguna and Quezon Province.
