Job Brief

We are seeking an ambitious, commercially minded Business Manager to support the Managing Director (MD) of a national food manufacturing and distribution business in its next phase of growth. This role is perfect for someone with a strong grounding in business operations, data-driven decision-making, and executive-level support. You'll act as the MD's right hand—supporting both strategically and operationally—while helping to identify cost savings, manage internal initiatives, and lead aspects of market development. This role has a clear pathway to COO for a candidate who proves their value and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day executive support to the Managing Director, including calendar and task management.

Assist with operational oversight of business functions, liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders.

Analyse financial reports and sales data to identify areas for growth, cost savings, and operational improvements.

Work closely with the MD to develop and implement strategic plans, including process optimisation and expansion initiatives.

Manage and support a field sales team by monitoring performance data, reviewing KPIs, and assisting with lead generation or promotions.

Prepare internal reports, presentations, and market development updates.

Coordinate follow-ups, task tracking, and project execution across departments.

Take initiative on internal improvements or problem areas, proposing practical solutions.

Serve as a trusted advisor and sounding board to the MD, providing feedback and insight across all facets of the business.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in business management, executive support, or operations leadership.

Strong financial literacy, with the ability to read and interpret P&L reports, margin analysis, and cost structures.

Demonstrated ability to manage or influence teams and deliver results through others.

High level of proficiency in Excel, reporting tools, and business systems.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Based in the Philippines, with full-time availability during Australian business hours.

Desirable

Experience working with manufacturing, distribution, or food service industries.

Familiarity with sales operations, CRM management, or campaign planning.

Previous experience in supporting a founder-led business or fast-growing SME.

Software Proficiency

Productivity: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Workspace

Reporting & Analysis: Google Sheets, BI dashboards (e.g., Data Studio, Power BI)

CRM / Sales Tools: HubSpot, Pipedrive, or similar (preferred)

Communication: Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams
