Job Summary: The Chief Technical Officer (CTO) is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the companys technological and engineering strategies. The CTO leads innovation and drives technological advancements in energy generation, distribution, storage, and sustainability solutions. The role involves ensuring the technical viability of projects, maintaining regulatory compliance, and aligning technological strategies with the companys business objectives.

KEY FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technology and Project Management

Lead the design, development, and execution of major energy infrastructure projects, including renewable energy plants, smart grids, and energy storage solutions.

Manage the lifecycle of large-scale technical projects, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and cross-functional team coordination.

Evaluate project performance, ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, and budget while meeting the required technical specifications.

Innovation and Technological Advancement

Foster a culture of innovation by driving the adoption of new technologies and continuous improvement processes.

Lead the evaluation and integration of new energy technologies and solutions.

Manage and collaborate with external partners, vendors, and research institutions to explore cutting-edge technologies and leverage industry expertise.

Regulatory Compliance and Industry Standards

Ensure that all technology solutions and energy operations comply with local regulations, including environmental, safety, and energy efficiency standards.

Monitor changes in industry regulations and work with relevant departments to ensure the company remains in full compliance with regulatory bodies.

Oversee environmental impact assessments and ensure adherence to sustainability targets and emission reduction goals.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Proven track record in energy generation technologies (e.g., renewable energy, thermal, nuclear) and energy distribution systems.
  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale energy projects, including smart grids, energy storage, and renewable energy plants.
  • Experience in overseeing regulatory compliance, sustainability initiatives, and environmental standards in the energy industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external partners, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong understanding of energy market dynamics and emerging technologies in the power and energy sectors.
  • Expertise in technology evaluation, integration, and digital transformation for the energy sector.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee large, complex projects.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

EDUCATION, TRAININGS, LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field. Licensed Engineer.
  • Masters degree (MBA, M.S. in Renewable Energy, or Engineering) is preferred.
  • Additional certifications or training in project management (e.g., PMP) or energy management (e.g., CEM) would be an asset.
  • Minimum 20 years & up direct experience in the power and energy sector, & with at least 15 years in a senior leadership role.
