Budget Controller

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Budget Control Manager/Project Control Manager in delivering thorough, independent, and complete Budget Control Reports for projects.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data, correct cost allocation, and analysis of cost trends.
  • Collect all relevant information (work budgets, actual data, etc.) from Estimators, Reporting/Planning Engineers, Project Managers, and the Finance Department.
  • Process and analyze all gathered data using estimating software (e.g., InEight) and prepare budget forecasts.
  • Prepare departmental reports in a timely manner, including trend analysis, budget comparisons, and explanations of variances.
  • Drive the consolidation process and promote reporting automation.
  • Regularly visit project sites to coordinate and consult with the project management team and inform them of critical issues.
  • Assign and approve budgets for PR/IR.
  • Ensure that gathered data and budget information are properly maintained and knowledge is transferred to the Estimation and Commercial Departments.
  • Assist in preparing estimates as required by the Project Manager or project team.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and provide ongoing support to the PCM/BCM for projects and non-routine activities.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and assumptions made within cost estimations.
  • Apply technical skills with thorough knowledge of estimating principles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role and relevant industries.
  • Experience in dredging and civil marine projects is highly preferred.
