We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations and ensure the company's financial health. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in bookkeeping, reporting, and cash flow management, with the ability to streamline processes, manage a finance team, and deliver clear, actionable insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records and oversee daily bookkeeping using QuickBooks.
  • Perform regular and month-end bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice management, supplier payments, and customer billing.
  • Handle credit control functions and coordinate with factoring companies to maintain positive cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by monitoring financial performance and reporting variances.
  • Conduct cash flow analysis and provide strategic recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain and improve internal control procedures to ensure data accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
  • Assist with audit preparation and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Supervise and train junior finance team members to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Skills

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) or equivalent certification.
  • Proven experience preparing and submitting VAT and CIS returns.
  • Background in audit preparation, credit control, and budgeting.
  • Previous experience supervising or training finance staff.
  • Experience working in a service-driven or construction-related industry.
