Job Overview

We are seeking an assertive, analytical, and highly dependable Accounting and Finance Manager to lead Horizon's internal accounting operations and ensure excellence across client engagements.

This role requires someone who combines initiative with precision — a proactive leader who thrives in a structured environment, builds efficient systems, and communicates effectively to align teams and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Responsibilities

• Lead with ownership all internal accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.

• Manage billing accuracy, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure timely and error-free reporting.

• Prepare executive-level dashboards and deliver insights that guide strategic decisions.

• Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes to maintain predictability and financial health.

• Strengthen internal controls and develop systems that drive efficiency, clarity, and accountability across the organization.

Client-Facing Responsibilities

• Serve as the Controller-level authority for select Beyond the Books client accounts.

• Review client deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP.

• Collaborate professionally with client stakeholders to improve reporting efficiency and reliability.

• Implement structured processes for onboarding new clients and ensure smooth transitions.

• Balance decisive leadership with steady follow-through to maintain quality and consistency across engagements.

Compensation

• Full-time role at $15 per hour.

• Paid Time Off (PTO) – accrued and available as earned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

• CPA license (active or inactive) strongly preferred.

• Big 4 public accounting experience required.

• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.

• Prior experience supporting U.S.-based companies or clients.

• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Excel.

• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting standards.

• Exceptional attention to detail and high personal accountability.

• Ability to communicate clearly and maintain professionalism across teams.
