Job Opportunity: Inventory Accountant

Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional ready to make an impact in the hospitality industry? We are an Australian hospitality company on the hunt for a skilled Inventory Accountant to join our team and take ownership of our inventory management system. This is a new role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory System Management:

  2. Oversee and maintain the restaurant's inventory system, including Restoke and MYOB, ensuring accurate data entry and functionality.

  3. Regularly update system settings, such as product details, supplier information, pricing, par levels and recipes.

  4. Recipe and Menu Management:

  5. Ensure all recipes are accurately set up in the system, including portion sizes, yield calculations, and food cost analysis.

  6. Collaborate with chefs and management to adjust recipes as needed to optimize costs.

  7. Order Approval and Procurement:

  8. Review and approve all kitchen food orders before submission to suppliers to prevent over-ordering or stock discrepancies.

  9. Coordinate with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules, pricing, and quality standards.

  10. Stock Management and Audits:

  11. Conduct regular stocktakes, investigate variances, and reconcile discrepancies between physical and system inventory.

  12. Implement stock rotation practices (FIFO) and ensure inventory levels are optimized to meet demand without overstocking.

  13. Expense Monitoring and Analysis:

  14. Track food expenses in relation to sales to ensure profit margins are maintained.

  15. Generate and analyze inventory and financial reports to identify areas for cost savings and improved efficiency.

  16. Waste and Loss Management:

  17. Monitor and minimize food waste by tracking expiration dates, handling excess stock, and implementing waste-reduction strategies.

  18. Investigate and address issues related to theft, spoilage, or improper storage.

  19. Team Training and Collaboration:

  20. Train kitchen and operations staff on inventory policies, stock management, and proper use of inventory systems.

  21. Collaborate with chefs, management, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations and clear communication.

  22. Compliance and Food Safety:

  23. Ensure inventory practices comply with local food safety regulations and health standards.

  24. Monitor perishable stock to maintain freshness and quality.

  25. Emergency Inventory Management:

  26. Respond to urgent situations, such as stock shortages or supply chain disruptions, by sourcing alternative solutions.

  27. System Optimization:

    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the inventory system and processes.
    • Recommend and implement changes to streamline ordering, stock tracking, and reporting.

What We're Looking For:

  • At least 2 years of experience in inventory accounting
  • A background in the hospitality or food service industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management systems like Restoke or MYOB (or similar platforms).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to coordinate with suppliers and teams.
  • The ability to work remotely while maintaining productivity and accountability.
  • Location: Must be based in the Philippines and excited about working remotely.
