What You'll Be Doing

Collecting rent and turning "past due" to "paid in full" You will be working with residents, both past and current, to bring any past due balances up to date. This will largely be done on the phone but you will also leverage email and text to communicate with residents.

Negotiating and Problem-Solving. You'll work with residents to set up payment plans, assist with emergency rental assistance applications, answer questions about rent balances to ensure residents understand their charges, and encourage on-time payments.

Coordinating with Housing Authorities – You'll track tenant voucher payments, ensure they are received and applied correctly, and escalate issues as needed.

Collaborating and Ensuring Accuracy. Working closely with leasing, eviction, and accounting teams, you'll minimize delinquency, flag billing discrepancies for correction, and help reduce bad debt.


The Skills & Experience We're Looking For
  • Rent Collections Experience. You have a minimum of two years of high volume collections and property management experience. You have done the role and know what it takes to succeed.
  • Rent Collection Policies, Procedures and Local Laws. You understand Fair Housing laws and their role in the rent collection process, or will be able to get up to speed quickly.
  • Top Level Producer. You produce. You have consistently shown yourself to be one of the top producers in whatever you are working on.
  • Familiarity with Property Management Software. You have experience using property management software such as Buildium, Yardi, etc.
  • Detail Oriented. You have a very strong attention to detail. You understand the importance of every detail and yourself to a very high standard.
  • Excellent Communication skills. You clearly communicate through both verbal and written communications both internally and externally.
  • Proactive Mindset. You have a strong bias towards action. You know it might be the first, fourth or sixth call or text message that gets the job done.. You have a true passion for sales and customer service.
  • Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on. You persevere when others fall away.
  • Technology is your tool. You constantly evaluate how your efforts can be massively leveraged by technology. Whether it's automated text messages or adjustments to your workflow you are constantly looking for ways to get more done through technology.
