Accounts Payable Specialist

Position Summary: The Accounts Payable Associate is responsible for the payment of goods and services purchased by the organization, as well driving continuous improvement in procure-to-pay processes. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services.

• Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.Manages relationships with vendors and responds to vendor inquiries
• Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others regarding purchases.
• Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files.
• Assists corporate financial officers and division personnel as necessary.
• Acts as liaison between corporate and subsidiary accounts payable departments.
• Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks.
• Distributes signed checks as required.
• Tracks and records all scheduled payments.
• Monitors disbursement bank accounts for transaction exceptions.
• Assists in monthly closings.
• Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
• Performs filing and copying.
• Establish records of accounts and input entries into to proper accounts.
• Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.

• Processes invoices into ERP system.
• Opens mail daily.
• Processes check requests, garnishments and tax payments, ensuring all appropriate approvals have beenreceived.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance; previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Sage is a plus) and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

• CPA certification or progress towards certification is a plus.
• Experience with construction accounting is a plus.
• Amenable to work on-site, graveyard shift.
• Can start ASAP.
