Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role will be responsible for accurately measuring and quantifying materials, labor, and costs from construction drawings, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and supporting cost estimation processes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Quantity Takeoffs (QTO):

  • Accurately measure and quantify materials, labor, and costs from 2D architectural/structural drawings (floor plans, reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, utilities, mechanical & electrical).

  • Utilize both manual methods (scale rulers, area calculations) and digital tools (Bluebeam, AutoCAD, CostX, Planswift, Revit, etc.).

  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ) Preparation:

  • Organize takeoff data into a structured BOQ following industry standards (NRM, SMM7, CESMM).

  • Classify items (e.g., Earthworks, Structural, Finishes, Services) with descriptions, units, quantities, and rates.

  • Cost Estimation Support:

  • Provide quantified data for preliminary and detailed cost estimates.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare reports for tenders, contracts, and procurement.

  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to clarify discrepancies.
What we're looking for:
  • A college graduate with a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management is required.
  • At least 4+ years of experience in construction takeoffs, BOQ preparation, or estimating.
  • Certifications (optional but preferred): RICS, CIOB, or AACE (e.g., Certified Cost Professional).
  • Strong understanding of measurement standards (RICS NRM, CSI MasterFormat).
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Planswift, CostX, and MS Excel.
  • Technical Proficiency – Ability to read and interpret construction drawings (architectural, structural, MEP) and apply industry-standard measurement methods.
  • Attention to Detail – Precision in measurements and identifying discrepancies to avoid costly errors.
  • Analytical & Numerical Skills – Breaking down complex designs into measurable and costed items.
  • Communication & Collaboration – Working effectively with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams.
  • Time Management – Delivering accurate outputs within tight deadlines.
