Job Summary:

The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding work on various metal structures and components used in construction projects. The role requires skill in multiple welding techniques and adherence to safety, quality, and structural standards. The Welder must hold a valid TESDA National Certificate (NC I or NC II) and follow the approved welding procedures applicable to the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding tasks based on project plans, drawings, and technical specifications, including the fabrication and repair of steel components, beams, frames, pipes, and reinforcements.
  • Operate welding equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, cutting torches, and grinders with proper technique and safety.
  • Prepare and assemble materials prior to welding, including measuring, cutting, and aligning components accurately.
  • Inspect and test welds for accuracy and quality in accordance with project and safety standards.
  • Ensure that all welding work meets the structural integrity and aesthetic requirements set by the engineer or supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area and ensure proper handling and storage of welding tools and consumables.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any malfunction or needed repairs.
  • Work closely with engineers, foremen, and fellow tradesmen to coordinate tasks and maintain smooth workflow on site.
  • Adhere to all company and government-mandated Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety orientations, and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • At least High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid TESDA National Certificate (NC I or NC II) in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or other relevant welding certifications (e.g., GTAW, FCAW, GMAW).
  • At least 1–3 years of experience as a welder in a construction or fabrication setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of different welding methods and materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, structural steel, etc.).
  • Good physical condition.
  • Ability to work in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead) and in difficult or confined environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Certifications Required:

  • TESDA NC I or NC II in appropriate welding discipline (e.g., SMAW NC II, GTAW NC II).
  • COSH (Construction Occupational Safety and Health) Certificate from a DOLE-accredited training provider (preferred or required for site work).
