We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder with a strong background in ENT & Allergy to accurately code outpatient and procedural services. The ideal candidate is detail-obsessed (in a good way), fluent in coding guidelines, and comfortable navigating Athena IDX to support compliant billing and timely reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze medical records, operative reports, and provider documentation for ENT & Allergy services
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with CMS, payer, and specialty-specific guidelines
  • Apply appropriate modifiers and ensure correct code sequencing
  • Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with providers to obtain clarification when needed
  • Ensure coding accuracy to minimize denials and support clean claim submission
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ENT & Allergy coding rules, payer policies, and regulatory updates
  • Perform coding audits and participate in quality assurance initiatives
  • Utilize Athena IDX efficiently for coding, charge entry, and documentation review

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on medical coding experience, specifically in ENT & Allergy
  • Strong proficiency in Athena IDX
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier usage
  • Solid understanding of E/M coding, procedures, and diagnostic services related to ENT & Allergy
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while meeting productivity and accuracy standards
  • CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification
  • Experience with audits, denials management, or payer appeals
  • Familiarity with compliance and risk adjustment concepts
